Resumo: Pregnancy is characterized by many psychological, physiological and anatomical changes in the female body. These adaptations influence metabolic and functional changes during these 9 months. Thus, the physiotherapist has a fundamental role, as he is a first-contact professional who receives training in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and kinesiology, important topics for understanding the function and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles for the work of childbirth. Methodology: This study presents itself as a literature review based on publications indexed in the BVS, Lilacs and SciELO databases. Results: Through data collection, 29 articles were found, however only 10 articles were used to develop the discussion of the work. Final considerations: in the research used to construct this work, it was noted that pelvic biomechanics during childbirth are fundamental to the occurrence of a positive experience for all pregnant women, through therapeutic methods that will facilitate and/or contribute to a more humane birth process.
