Resumo: | Chronic renal failure is a progressive disease characterized by a gradual destruction of the nephrons and a consequent reduction in renal function. End-stage kidney disease (ESRD) requires renal replacement therapy such as peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis or transplantation. Patients affected by ESRD or on hemodialysis are at risk of developing a series of comorbidities, including hypertension, anemia, risk of bleeding, susceptibility to infection, side effects of medications and oral manifestations associated with the disease itself and treatment on hemodialysis. In this context, oral diseases represent a potential and preventable cause of poor health outcomes in people with ESRD due to their relationship with infection, inflammation and malnutrition. |

Specialized Dentistry Group2020-05-27info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/7210.36557/2674-8169.2020v2n5p51-69Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 2 No. 5 (2020): May 2020; 51-69Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 2 Núm. 5 (2020): Maio de 2020; 51-69Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 2 n. 5 (2020): Maio de 2020; 51-692674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/72/108Copyright (c) 2020 Fulvia Costantinides, Gaetano Castronovo, Erica Vettori, Rosemary Ferreira de Andrade, Costanza Frattini, Roberto Di Lenardainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCostantinides, Fulvia Castronovo, Gaetano Vettori, Erica Frattini, Costanza Artero, Mary Louise Bevilacqua, Lorenzo Berton, Federico Di Lenarda, Roberto 2020-06-26T19:09:11Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/72Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2020-06-26T19:09:11Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false |
