Resumo: Cesarean section is a resource used when risks to maternal-fetal health arise during pregnancy and/or childbirth, thus being effective in reducing mortality in the mother-baby binomial. However, cesarean sections are often performed under unnecessary conditions, without technical-scientific reasons to justify their execution and, therefore, the high rates of cesarean sections in Brazil and around the world are considered a public health problem. Thus, this scenario determines the discussion that cesarean sections, especially those performed without medical indication, can lead to the development of pathologies in child health, whether at birth or during the first years of the child's life. The most common complications are: cognitive, auditory and visual disorders, changes in the intestinal microbiota, obesity, neurological and respiratory disorders and autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, asthma, juvenile arthritis, celiac disease and atopic dermatitis. This study aims to verify the main risks that cesarean birth can cause to child health and discuss the impacts that such complications have on the child's quality of life. This is an integrative review in which studies were analyzed from 2012 to 2022 in the following databases: PubMed, Scielo, LILACS and Virtual Health Library (VHL) with the descriptors children, complications, childhood, cesarean section and risks of cesarean section . After selecting the works based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 44 articles were selected, and the year in which there were the most publications on the topic was 2020 with 12 publications (27.2%), while the year with the lowest publication was 2022 with only 1 disclosure (2.04%). Therefore, it is concluded that cesarean sections do, in fact, cause harm to children's health and, therefore, more research is needed that can describe and explain the prevalence of cesarean births in relation to vaginal births.

Therefore, it is concluded that cesarean sections do, in fact, cause harm to children's health and, therefore, more research is needed that can describe and explain the prevalence of cesarean births in relation to vaginal births.O parto cesárea é um recurso utilizado quando surgem riscos para a saúde materno-fetal durante a gestação e/ou parto, sendo efetiva, assim, na redução da mortalidade do binômio mãe-bebê. Specialized Dentistry Group2024-04-13info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/193110.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n4p1413-1432Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 4 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3 - IMPACT FACTOR SJIF 5.807; 1413-1432Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 4 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3 - FATOR DE IMPACTO SJIF 5.807; 1413-1432Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 4 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3 - FATOR DE IMPACTO SJIF 5.807; 1413-14322674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1931/2140Copyright (c) 2024 Giovanna Leandrin Silvestri , Gabriela Karine Rosa Querido, Helena da Silva Martucci , Maria Júlia Teixeira Mello , Tatiana Alves Veiga Gadbem, Danyelle Cristine Marini https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSilvestri , Giovanna LeandrinQuerido, Gabriela Karine RosaMartucci , Helena da SilvaMello , Maria Júlia TeixeiraGadbem, Tatiana Alves VeigaMarini , Danyelle Cristine2024-04-13T22:17:58Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1931Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-04-13T22:17:58Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
