CARDIOLOGICAL TOXICITY BY ANTRACYCLINES AFTER TREATMENT OF ACUTE LEUKEMIA IN CHILDREN: an integrative review

Resumo: This study aims to discuss the scientific evidence on cardiotoxicity in children after treatment for Acute Lymphoid Leukemia with anthracyclines. This is an integrative literature review, associated with the acronym PICo and structured with the descriptors: Cardiotoxicity, Anthracyclines, Precursor Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia-Lymphoma, in the time frame of 2017 to 2022, being developed through the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). The use of anthracyclines and their derivatives has increased the survival rate of pediatric cancer patients. Cardiotoxicity has been described as one of the most common side effects in this population, but research has shown that changes to therapeutic protocols can reduce undesirable cardiovascular events.

Se trata de una revisión bibliográfica integradora, asociada a la sigla PICo y estructurada con los descriptores: Cardiotoxicidad, Antraciclinas, Leucemia-Linfoma Linfoblástica de Células Precursoras, en el lapso de tiempo comprendido entre 2017 y 2022, utilizando las siguientes bases de datos: Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud (LILACS), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) y Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). El uso de antraciclinas y sus derivados ha aumentado la tasa de supervivencia de los pacientes pediátricos con cáncer. La cardiotoxicidad se ha descrito como uno de los efectos secundarios más frecuentes en esta población, pero las investigaciones han demostrado que los cambios en los protocolos terapéuticos tienen como objetivo reducir los eventos cardiovasculares indeseables.O presente estudo visa discutir as evidências científicas sobre a cardiotoxicidade em crianças após tratamento  de Leucemia Linfóide Aguda por antraciclinas. Estudo  do  tipo  revisão  integrativa  da  literatura, associado ao acrônimo PICo e estruturado com os descritores: Cardiotoxicidade, Antraciclinas, Leucemia-Linfoma Linfoblástico de Células Precursoras, no recorte temporal de 2017 a 2022, sendo desenvolvido por meio das bases de dados: Literatura Latino-americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), e Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). O emprego das antraciclinas e seus derivados têm elevado a taxa de sobrevida dos pacientes oncológicos pediátricos.
