WALKING AND STREET RUNNING IN TIMES OF PANDEMIC AS STRATEGIES FOR HEALTH PROMOTION AND DISEASE PREVENTION: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Resumo: In the midst of the pandemic, a large part of the population was forced to reduce the practice of physical exercise indoors as an academy or similar places, in view of these restrictions, a large part of the population sought alternatives to exercise outdoors, with walking and street racing. The objective of this study is to describe the benefits of walking and street running in pandemic times of COVID-19. The research had as a methodological design the qualitative approach, through the literature review. Scientific productions were selected in the Scielo, Google Scholar and Pubcovid research databases. Inclusion criteria were selected: articles published in Portuguese and English, from 2016 to 2021. Keywords were used: COVID-19; Walking; Street racing; Benefits, combined by the boolean operator "and". The results of this research have observed the numerous benefits that walking and street running can bring to practitioners, being it the increase in disposition, improvement in health, weight loss, improvement in self-esteem and pleasure, blood pressure control, improvement in cardiovascular capacity, among other benefits. It is concluded that walking and street running are being a great alternative for those who want improvements in health and maintenance of physical performance amid the pandemic of Covid-19.

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo descreve sobre os benefícios da caminhada e da corrida de rua em tempos pandêmicos da COVID-19. A pesquisa teve como delineamento metodológico a abordagem qualitativa, através da revisão de literatura. As produções científicas foram selecionadas nas bases de pesquisa SciElo, Google Acadêmico e PubCovid. Como critérios de inclusão foram selecionados: artigos publicados em português e inglês, no período de 2016 a 2021. Como palavras-chaves foram utilizadas: COVID-19; Caminhada; Corrida de rua; Benefícios, combinadas pelo operador booleano “and”. Os resultados da presente pesquisa observaram-se os inúmeros benefícios que a caminhada e corrida de rua pode trazer para os praticantes, sendo ela o aumento na disposição, melhoria na saúde, perca de peso, melhoria na autoestima e prazer, controle da pressão arterial, melhoria na capacidade cardiovascular, entres outros benefícios.
