This article aims to identify the main risk factors and measures for implementing safe infant sleep in sudden infant death syndrome. This is an integrative literature review carried out in the materials indexed in the Virtual Health Library (VHL): MEDLINE, LILACS, BINACIS and IBECS, through Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) in crossing with the Boolean operator and, as follows form: "Sucking Behavior" and ''Pain'' and ''Infant''. After applying the eligibility criteria, 10 studies were selected to compose this review. It is concluded that awareness of safe sleep practices, such as avoiding bed sharing, positioning the baby properly and avoiding exposure to tobacco and substances, is crucial. In summary, sudden infant death syndrome prevention requires coordinated efforts to protect infants' safe sleep and reduce associated risks.
