Resumo: Postpartum haemorrhage is one of the most serious and potentially fatal obstetric complications faced by women after giving birth. Characterized by excessive blood loss after a baby is born, this condition poses a significant threat to maternal health worldwide. Assessment of the epidemiological profile of postpartum haemorrhage in Brazil is of utmost importance for maternal and public health. This analysis reveals crucial information about the incidence, risk factors, occurrence patterns and temporal trends of this serious obstetric complication. Understanding the epidemiological panorama not only helps in identifying groups with greater vulnerability, but also serves to guide the implementation of more effective preventive measures and clinical interventions. Therefore, the objective of this work was to build an epidemiological panorama of hospitalizations caused by postpartum haemorrhage in Brazil, from 2020 to 2023. This is an ecological time series study, which used data from the Hospital Information System (SIH) from DATASUS. This comprehensive source offers a detailed overview of hospitalizations in the northern region of Brazil. Through this study, we demonstrated a 10% reduction in hospitalizations caused by postpartum haemorrhage in Brazil, with the Southeast being responsible for the majority of hospitalizations and hospital costs. Furthermore, we identified that brown women aged between 20 and 29 years were the most affected. The discussion about hospitalizations for postpartum haemorrhage is essential to address issues related to maternal health, quality of obstetric care and access to health services.

Specialized Dentistry Group2024-03-05info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/159810.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n3p302-311Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 3 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 302-311Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 3 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 302-311Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 3 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 302-3112674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1598/1787Copyright (c) 2024 Daniel da Costa Matos, Heloysi Maria Peres Amorim, Artur Kiesqui Zattar, Júlia Gabriela Rossi Pelegrini, Douglas Anese, Ketlen Cristina Silva Cabral, Emilly Maria Borba Pires, Madsely Cristina Maia Gomes, Amanda Celina Bueno Lage, Matheus Leal Castro Aguiar, Isis Katarine Lopes Simões, Ana Beatriz da Cruz Silva, Gabriele Soprano do Carmo, Flávia Izabelly Dias Rêgo de Oliveira, Ludmila Vacari; Lívia Coutinho Migliorinhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessMatos, Daniel da CostaAmorim, Heloysi Maria PeresZattar, Artur KiesquiPelegrini, Júlia Gabriela RossiAnese, DouglasCabral, Ketlen Cristina SilvaPires, Emilly Maria BorbaGomes, Madsely Cristina MaiaLage, Amanda Celina BuenoAguiar, Matheus Leal CastroSimões, Isis Katarine LopesSilva, Ana Beatriz da CruzCarmo, Gabriele Soprano doOliveira, Flávia Izabelly Dias Rêgo deVacari, LudmilaMigliorin, Lívia Coutinho2024-03-05T16:53:31Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1598Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-03-05T16:53:31Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
