Resumo: | Alzheimer's disease is characterized by being a neurodegenerative disease, with a progressive decline in cognitive and motor functions. Due to this irreversible condition and progressive deterioration, it has devastating effects on carriers and their families. This work was developed with the objective of analyzing in the literature the impacts, challenges and attributions of nursing during the process of caring for Alzheimer's disease in the life of the patient and the caregiver. This is an integrative literature review about forms of care and nursing strategies for Alzheimer's patients, from 2015 to 2022, within the following databases: Virtual Health Library (VHL), Nursing Databases (BDENF), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) and Medline, using the descriptors: Alzheimer's disease; Alzheimer's disease; Supporter; Dementia, elderly, nursing. The presented results demonstrated that both patients with Alzheimer's disease and caregivers need more intensive attention from health professionals due to mental impairment and other co-morbidities such as dementia. This dementia syndrome has a strong impact on the quality of life of both patients and family members/caregivers, and is considered one of the biggest public health problems today. It is necessary for health professionals, especially nurses, to update their knowledge about care for elderly people with Alzheimer's dementia, so that they can build a care plan and individual and collective strategies. Thus, Alzheimer's disease is configured as a challenge for contemporary society, and Nursing plays a fundamental role in the care of the patient and the caregiver. |

Specialized Dentistry Group2023-08-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/38010.36557/2674-8169.2023v5n4p164-191Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 No. 4 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 164-191Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 Núm. 4 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 164-191Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 5 n. 4 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 164-1912674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/380/461Copyright (c) 2023 Manuelle Rodrigues da Silva, Lorena Rocha Batista Carvalho, Ludmilla Lustosa Elvas Barjud, Manoel Lopes da Silva Filhohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessda Silva, Manuelle RodriguesCarvalho, Lorena Rocha BatistaBarjud, Ludmilla Lustosa Elvasda Silva Filho, Manoel Lopes2023-08-01T19:51:50Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/380Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2023-08-01T19:51:50Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false |
