Resumo: | Objective: The aim of the present study was to test associations between pregnancy-induced hypertensive syndromes (PIHSs) and nutritional, obstetric, clinical and socioeconomic characteristics in high-risk pregnancies. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out involving 191 pregnant women (mean age: 24.7 ± 6.17 years) at the obstetric center of the Federal University of Pernambuco Hospital (Brazil) between March and November 2013. Information was collected on the diagnosis of PIHS, pre-pregnancy anthropometric data (weight and height), number of prenatal appointments, clinical data (previous arterial hypertension, family history of hypertension and associated adverse health conditions), obstetric data (number of pregnancies, type of childbirth and past history of PIHS), lifestyle (smoking, alcohol intake and physical activity) and income. Statistical analysis involved the chi-square test with the level of significance set to 5% (p < 0.05). Results: An increase in the frequency of preeclampsia was found among all PIHSs. Overweight/obesity was significantly associated with gestational hypertension, preeclampsia (p < 0.054) and a non-fixed income (p < 0.035). The most prevalent complication related to PIHS was the premature rupture of membranes with the loss of amniotic fluid. A greater percentage of a family history of hypertension, primiparity and sedentary lifestyle occurred with all PIHSs. No significant associations were found between the different types of PIHS and the other variables studied. Conclusion: Preeclampsia and gestational hypertension were significantly associated with overweight/obesity and a non-fixed income. |

Specialized Dentistry Group2024-02-06info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/136110.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n2p550-561Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 550-561Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 550-561Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 550-5612674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1361/1598Copyright (c) 2024 Ingritty Daysiane Torres Barbosa , Andresa Mayara da Silva Santos, Cinthia Katiane Martins Calado, Regiane Maio , Maria Goretti Pessoa de Burgoshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessTorres Barbosa , Ingritty Daysianeda Silva Santos, Andresa MayaraCalado, Cinthia Katiane MartinsMaio, RegianeBurgos, Maria Goretti Pessoa de2024-02-06T17:22:35Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1361Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-02-06T17:22:35Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false |
