Telemedicine, an emerging branch of modern medicine, uses innovative technologies and digital applications to enable remote care by health professionals. This care modality has proven to be a crucial tool, especially in cases of patients with reduced mobility or who reside in hard-to-reach locations. This work aims to highlight the vital importance of telemedicine for individuals residing in rural and interior areas, where access to medical services may be limited. For this study, we conducted a comprehensive literature review, analyzing 06 original articles published between 2019 and 2023 that address the theme of telemedicine. In practice, telemedicine has a significant impact on medical care. It profoundly influences the relationship between health professionals and patients, transforming the way care is provided. Telemedicine covers a wide range of services, from remote patient monitoring to interactive audio and video consultations in real time. Based on our literature review, we observed that the implementation of telemedicine brings numerous benefits. It puts health services within everyone’s reach, regardless of their geographical location, ensuring quality and agile care. Telemedicine has the potential to revolutionize access to health, especially for those in rural and remote areas.
