Resumo: This study aims to discuss the scientific evidence on prenatal care as an instrument in the prevention of gestational syphilis and to explain the acuity of the nursing consultation in prenatal care in Brazil. This is an integrative literature review, associated with the acronym PICo and structured with the descriptors: Syphilis; Congenital Syphilis; Pregnancy; Prenatal Care, in the time frame from 2017 to 2021, and was developed using databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), Nursing Database (BDENF), consulted through the Virtual Health Library, and the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). It was noted that the high indicators of gestational syphilis will only be reduced when there is an acceptance of more effective prevention and control measures in primary care services. It should be noted that deeper family involvement with the pregnant woman and her sexual partner during prenatal care will help to establish a more humanized relationship between the patient and the team, thus facilitating treatment and making it more effective and safer.
