Resumo: With the growing number of cases of endodontic treatments, the dentist must stay up to date on new root canal irrigation techniques, with ozone being an option. The objective of this work was to identify the applicability of ozone therapy in endodontic treatment, highlighting the disinfection, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of ozone. This is an integrative review of the literature carried out under the parameters of the PRISMA strategy, with a search in the Pubmed, Scielo, Virtual Health Library (VHL), and EBSCO Host databases. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 11 articles were selected for characterization. After endodontic instrumentation, ozonized water, ozone gas or ozonized oil can be used, showing effectiveness on bacteria present in the canals. The application of ozone in root canals as an additional therapy to disinfection protocols such as sodium hypochlorite (NaOCI) can generate additional disinfection, less post-operative pain and reduce the chances of inflammation. Therefore, knowledge on the subject is extremely important so that they can offer the best techniques and prognosis to patients.

Specialized Dentistry Group2023-11-22info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/89510.36557/2674-8169.2023v5n5p3640-3652Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 No. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 3640-3652Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 Núm. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 3640-3652Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 5 n. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 3640-36522674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/895/1045Copyright (c) 2023 Lucas Vinícius Da Silva Vallerius, Rodrigo Soares de Andrade, Julianne Caixeta Nunes, Ivânia Aparecida Pimenta Santos Silva , Natália de Fátima Goncalves Amâncio https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessVinícius Da Silva Vallerius, LucasSoares de Andrade, RodrigoCaixeta Nunes, JuliannePimenta Santos Silva , Ivânia AparecidaGoncalves Amâncio , Natália de Fátima2023-11-22T21:08:45Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/895Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2023-11-22T21:08:45Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
