Resumo: | Down Syndrome (DS) is a genetic condition characterized by the presence of an extra chromosome in pair 21. Babies with DS present delayed psychomotor development, generalized muscular hypotonia and difficulty in performing movements that require activation of muscles necessary to acquire antigravity stances. Objective: To evaluate the motor development of children between 2 and 11 years old with a clinical diagnosis of DS. Methodology: This is an exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional study, with quantitative data analysis. The research was carried out in an institution specialized in caring for people with disabilities, located in a city in Vale do Taquari. The data collection instrument used was the Motor Development Scale (EDM). Results:The research included a sample of 8 children, 5 females and 3 males, aged between 3 and 9 years (mean: 6,76; DP: 1,98; V:3,94), and in the evaluation carried out the findings were that 1 child presents a development average normal, 2 children low normal development, 4 children inferior and 1 very inferior. Conclusion: It was possible to verify that children with DS present delays in all areas assessed, as stratified by EDM, with greater difficulty in the areas of global motor skills, body schema, spatial organization and temporal organization/language, varying with the degree of complexity of the task and the individuality of each child. |

Specialized Dentistry Group2024-02-22info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/153210.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n2p1927-1937Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1927-1937Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1927-1937Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1927-19372674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1532/1714Copyright (c) 2024 Cassiele de Cássia Lima Brunheira, Magali Quevedo Grave, Tania Cristina Fleighttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess Brunheira, Cassiele de Cássia LimaGrave, Magali QuevedoFleig, Tania Cristina2024-02-22T20:34:22Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1532Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-02-22T20:34:22Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false |
