Resumo: Introduction: The phenomenon of population aging has emerged as a striking feature of contemporary societies, representing a significant shift in the age structure of populations worldwide. The increase in life expectancy and the decrease in birth rates are determining factors in this scenario, contributing to a progressive rise in the proportion of elderly individuals compared to other age groups. Methodology: To identify existing literature, specific MESH descriptors were chosen, encompassing key areas of research, including "Geriatrics," "Public Health," "Aging," and "Obesity." These terms were selected due to their relevance in analyzing challenges and strategies related to population aging. Results: Accessibility to quality healthcare services, suitable housing conditions, and financial resources are determining elements for the well-being of this population. Therefore, intervention strategies should address not only clinical issues but also the social and economic dimensions influencing the health of the elderly. Conclusion: Attention to the specific needs of geriatrics is crucial to ensure that the growing elderly population receives healthcare tailored to their unique characteristics. Recognizing clinical conditions, addressing obesity in the elderly, promoting mental health, and considering socio-economic disparities are critical elements for effective and compassionate practice in geriatrics.

Specialized Dentistry Group2024-01-03info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/118510.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n1p114-123Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 1 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 114-123Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 1 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 114-123Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 1 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 114-1232674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1185/1359Copyright (c) 2024 Marlus Geizer Pereira Lopes, Flávia Dias da Silva , Yunier Arró Martínez , Myllena Alves Rodrigues, Breno Lucas Pereira Rodrigues , Mayara Rezende Franco Chaves, Danielle Cristine Gomes Franco, Ikaro Oliveira Guimarães, Raymara Thaise Amaral Silva, Gabriel Henrique Gama Souza, João Victor Laurindo, Manoel Messias Silva, Gustavo Fagundes dos Santos, Aline Maria Matias dos Santos, Felipe Matheus Vitorino de Mattos silvahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessLopes, Marlus Geizer PereiraSilva , Flávia Dias daMartínez , Yunier ArróRodrigues, Myllena AlvesRodrigues , Breno Lucas PereiraChaves, Mayara Rezende FrancoFranco, Danielle Cristine GomesGuimarães, Ikaro OliveiraSilva, Raymara Thaise AmaralSouza, Gabriel Henrique GamaLaurindo, João VictorSilva, Manoel Messias Santos, Gustavo Fagundes dosSantos, Aline Maria Matias dossilva, Felipe Matheus Vitorino de Mattos2024-01-05T00:13:56Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1185Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-01-05T00:13:56Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
