UNWANTED FRACTURE IN ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY: CLINICAL CASE REPORT

Resumo: Sagittal Osteotomy of the Mandibular Branch is a technique used to perform planned fractures in the Mandible during the surgical treatment of corrections of dento-facial deformities. However, at the time of separation of the bone stumps, a fracture different from that planned may occur, disrupting the osteosynthesis process, and which can sometimes interfere with the final result of the patient's ortho-surgical treatment. The present work will report a case of unwanted fracture during a Sagittal Osteotomy, which was treated conservatively, with a very satisfactory final result.

Entretanto, no momento da separação dos cotos ósseos, pode ocorrer uma fratura diferente da planejada, atrapalhando o processo de osteossíntese, e que as vezes, pode interferir no resultado final do tratamento orto-cirúrgico do paciente.
