Resumo: Dental veneers are laminated restorations that serve to correct dental imperfections such as malformations, injuries, loss of color, among other defects that can negatively influence the biological and psychological health of patients, their self-esteem and personal marketing, thus causing loss of quality of life. . People who have poorly made and imperfect dental structures generally feel uncomfortable smiling and this has harmful effects on their self-esteem, reflecting negatively on their family, professional and sentimental lives. Pierre Fauchard is considered the father of modern dentistry and was the first to adopt the use of porcelain in dental practices in 1728. But it was Alexis Duchateau in 1774 who was the first to make a complete denture. Ceramic laminates, also known as´´contact lenses`` are defined as a coating of the buccal face of the dental element whose durability can reach ten years. Direct veneers, on the other hand, are versatile resins that are applied directly to the teeth and that effectively correct asymmetries and discolorations. This work aims to present a brief comparison between ceramic veneers and direct composite resin veneers and demonstrate the positive and negative psychological aspects relevant to the use of aesthetic veneers.

Specialized Dentistry Group2024-01-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/137810.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n1p2285-2297Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 1 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2285-2297Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 1 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2285-2297Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 1 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2285-22972674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1378/1547Copyright (c) 2024 Raylena de Andrade Catunda da Silva, Flávia Prado , Guilherme Viana de Oliveira, Anna Carolynne Lima dos Santos , Melquisedeque Lisboa dos Santos , Larissa Silva Ramos , Maria Eduarda Belchior de Sousa , Pedro Augusto Senem , Gustavo Luiz Foster Jardeweski , Claudia Quiroga G.
