Resumo: | This article aims to scan the current medical literature on the use and abuse of benzodiazepines in primary health care. It was possible to notice the uncontrolled use of medication, especially by elderly people, who use it indiscriminately and without proper medical guidance. Articles and research involving the topic were analyzed, thinking precisely about the need to hold a broader debate on the subject. The study is a bibliographical review that brings review articles, original articles, magazines in Portuguese, searched in scientific databases such as LILACS, PUBMED, SciELO and MEDLINE, using terms related to the topic. |

Foi possível perceber o uso descontrolado da medicação, principalmente por idosos, que fazem um uso indiscriminado e sem a devida orientação médica. Foram analisados artigos e pesquisas que envolviam o tema, pensando justamente na necessidade de se realizar um debate mais amplo sobre o assunto.
