OVARIAN CYST: APPROACH IN THE SURGERY SCENARIO

This study aims to report a case of a patient with an ovarian cyst in the municipality of Volta Redonda in 2023. It is a report obtained through a review of medical records, an interview with the patient and a literature review based on the Scielo and Pubmed databases, published from 2013 onwards, in English and Portuguese. The exclusion criteria were texts which, despite having the selected descriptors, did not directly address the proposed theme, as analyzed by reading the abstracts. The reported case shows an ovarian cyst that was surgically approached due to its rapid growth, Most ovarian cysts are found incidentally, are asymptomatic and tend to be benign with spontaneous resolution, leading to a favorable overall prognosis. In general, 70% to 80% of follicular cysts resolve spontaneously; larger, symptomatic cysts require surgery, usually laparotomy.
