Resumo: | In clinical situations where there is severe bone loss after tooth loss, the rehabilitation treatment with short implants in atresic maxillae has been used as a way to replace bone grafting, as a less invasive, painful treatment, less cost and waiting time. For clinical practice, short implants have high success rates when certain biomechanical aspects are taken into account. Bone quality is the main factor for the success of the short implant. The combination of length and poor bone quality reduces stability during placement and the healing period. However, the literature is also not entirely clear regarding the long-term survival rates of implant models measuring less than seven millimeters in length. The aim of this article is to describe a case study on the installation of short implants in atresic maxilla and subsequent rehabilitation with an overdenture bar-clip type prosthesis. The information contained in this work was obtained through a review of the medical record, an interview with the patient, a photographic record of the diagnostic methods, which the patient was submitted to, and a literature review. Within the limits of this case report, the installation surgery of short implants proved to be effective for the rehabilitation of the atresic anterior maxilla, it was possible to complete the construction of the bar-clip type overdenture prosthesis, without complications, following the correct transfer molding, with quality materials, impression fidelity and stability, providing a perfect and passive adaptation of the prosthesis, restoring the patient's comfort, aesthetics, phonetics and chewing, improving their oral health and restoring self-esteem. |

Specialized Dentistry Group2022-03-14info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/20610.36557/2674-8169.2022v4n2p60-73Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 4 No. 2 (2022): February 2022; 60-73Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 4 Núm. 2 (2022): Fevereiro de 2022; 60-73Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 4 n. 2 (2022): Fevereiro de 2022; 60-732674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/206/274Copyright (c) 2022 Suane Teles Branches , Claudiane do Carmo Maia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessTeles Branches , Suane do Carmo Maia , Claudiane 2022-03-15T11:26:42Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/206Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2022-03-15T11:26:42Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false |
