Azamax® application interval on cotton sucking pests and their natural enemies

Resumo: The cotton is attacked per sucking pests, which have been controlled with chemical insecticides, causing problems to the applicator's health and pollution of the environment, but the use of botanicals such as neem has been studied in recent years. The effect of the application interval of the insecticide Azamax® was evaluated on sucking pests and their natural enemies. The study was conducted at the Embrapa Cotton in Barbalha-CE, in period of June to September of 2015. The Azamax® was applied in two application intervals (seven and 15 days), in total coverage of the plants with manual costal spray with conical nozzle. The samplings were carried out weekly in 40 plants per parcel from 13 to 90 days after the plant emergence. The aphids, thrips and cochineal were sampled in the pointers of the plants, the whitefly in the leaf of the 5th node and the red mite in the middle part, while the natural enemies, in the places where the pests were sampled. The Azamax® applied at the seven and 15 days reduces the rate of infestation of the aphid Aphis gossypii, even as, the whitefly Bemisia tabaci biotype B and the cochineal Planococcus minor, having no effect on the red mite, for both periods of application. No effect of Azamax® was observed on natural enemies population of cotton sucking pests.

O efeito do intervalo de aplicação do inseticida Azamax® foi avaliado sobre pragas sugadoras e seus inimigos naturais. O estudo foi conduzido na Embrapa Algodão em Barbalha, Ceará. O Azamax® foi aplicado em dois intervalos de aplicação (sete e 15 dias), em cobertura total das plantas com pulverizador costal manual com bico cônico. As amostragens foram realizadas semanalmente em 40 plantas por parcela dos 13 aos 90 dias após a emergência das plantas. Pulgão, tripes e a cochonilha foram amostrados nos ponteiros das plantas, a mosca branca na folha do 5º nó e o ácaro vermelho na parte mediana, enquanto os inimigos naturais, nos locais onde as pragas foram amostradas. O Azamax® aplicado aos sete e 15 dias reduz a taxa de infestação do pulgão Aphis gossypii, assim como, a mosca branca Bemisia tabaci biótipo B e a cochonilha Planococcus minor, não tendo efeito no ácaro vermelho, para os dois períodos de aplicação.
