Resumo: | The imposter syndrome is the term attributed to a pattern of beliefs that the individual is not worthy of his successes despite any external validation. Thus, due to the profile and pressure on the medical student during the course, this study aimed to identify the prevalence of the Impostor Syndrome among medical students at a University in the interior of Santa Catarina. To this end, a descriptive quantitative research was carried out through the application of the Clance Scale of the Imposter Phenomenon in which 199 students answered the questionnaire online after approval by the Research Ethics Committee under CAAE nº (information temporarily suppressed to maintain the anonymity of the authorship). The analysis of the answers identified that 45.7% of students have more frequent impostor feelings and 14.1% have intense experience of the phenomenon, in which the profile of students who face the Impostor Syndrome are financially and dependent female students. Thus, it is concluded that the evaluation of the presence of the Impostor Syndrome among medical students allows measuring the impact on their quality of life, since the damage caused by the Syndrome in the student's daily life usually goes unnoticed, but reverberates throughout their career. In addition, it is recommended individual interventions such as self-analysis and adherence to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and institutional interventions as a group mentoring offer. |
