Nursing and postpartum depression with emphasis on the family health strategy

Beyond physiological changes, others are experienced by women during the pregnancy puerperal period, which generally make them more vulnerable to psychic disorders, including Postpartum Depression.To analyzeNursing Care for Postpartum Depression based on publications in scientific journals with emphasis on the Family Health Strategy. This work has an integrative literature approach, based on the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information (LILACS) and Nursing Database (BDENF).As inclusion criteria, the articles available in full over the last five years in Portuguese and English in the public domain were delimited. After selecting the studies, 13 articles were selected and included in this integrative review, respecting the inclusion criteria.At the end of the research, we observed that studies indicate women more vulnerable to the development of Postpartum Depression due to the great changes of the pregnancy puerperal period.Family support and health professionals monitoring are essential in the protection process for assistance and healing. However, a lack of assistance to women affected by Postpartum Depression was observed, especially in primary care and, therefore, in the Family Health Strategy. In addition, there is a need for training of nursing professionals in primary health care, so that they can identify the risks for the onset of Postpartum Depression.
