Congenital Syphilis: Preparation Of Educational Material For Pregnant In Belo Horizonte City

This study proposes an educational brochure about syphilis to be distributed to patients during gynecological and prenatal consultations assisted by the Family Health Program in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Second-year medical students from a private institution developed this work based on syphilis-related data available at DATASUS from the Ministry of Health. The information retrieved focused on congenital syphilis and scientific publications related to the theme. The data shows that cases of congenital syphilis in Belo Horizonte have increased in the last decade. This increase is related to specific parameters, such as age, pregnant women from a poorly educated background, incomplete prenatal care, lack of medical treatment of the partner and limitations in diagnosis. Therefore, it is crucial to inform the patients of the concept of maternal and congenital syphilis and related factors. This strategy was carried out through the elaboration of educational material, such as a brochure. Thus, after legibility analysis by FLF and FK indexes, the proposed brochure was considered accessible, with simple and easy-to-understand language, which meets the recommended target audience formed mainly by patients with a low education degree.
