Resumo: Three locals corn varieties and two commercial hybrids were studied at ten different places, during three consecutive years, in comparative trials. Randomized blocks, and Latin square design were used in plots with 30 or 15 square meters. Hybrid H.3531 was more productive in localities with poor soils while in places with rich soils the Agroceres hybrid was better than the open pollinated varieties. No significant difference between these hybrids was observed. In these trials, hybrids H.3531 and Agroceres produced, on the average, about 400 kg/ha more than the open pollinated varieties, Cateto and Armour, with which they have been compared.
