Resumo: Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) portray a set of health diseases, which represent a greater burden of morbidity and mortality in Brazil. These diseases have a greater biopsychosocial impact on groups more vulnerable to their living and health conditions. The objective of this study is to analyze the factors associated with NCDs more prevalent in quilombolas in the semiarid region of Bahia. This is a cross-sectional study, carried out with 864 quilombolas, ? 18 years old, living in the rural area of ??Feira de Santana-BA. The data were obtained from a validated instrument, containing questions about socioeconomic, demographic, environmental, health and disease conditions. The hierarchical Poisson model was inserted to identify the factors associated with CNCD, the most prevalent of which were: Hypertension (22.3%), Heart Diseases (5.9%) and Circulatory System Diseases (7.5%), and Diabetes (7.8%). The associated factors associated with CNCD in the hierarchical model were: age group 50 years old or more (CI: 2.6–8.1); number of rooms in the house (CI: 0.7–0.9); medication use (CI: 5.5-13.2); demand for health service (CI: 0.7-0.9). It is concluded that, even though quilombola factors associated with NCDs similar to those observed in the general population, it appears that the magnitude of this specific population presents a greater potential negative impact on the quality of life of these subjects.
