Relative age influence on team composition of Paulista Football Championship in B division

Resumo: | The relative age (RA) is a phenomenon that is present on football world, specifically in young players, given the fact that young that was born in the first months of year has better performance on selection process. However, the same problem is not analyzed in elite football. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of RA in professional teams of division B Paulista Football Championship. Were analyzed 1.115 players of 39 teams, they were divided by birthdates and they were indicated by semester and trimester, in semester they were divided by: 1° semester in the firstly Day January to the last Day June and 2° semester were 1° Day July to the last Day of December. In trimester were divided by 1° trimester January to March, 2° trimester April to June, 3° trimester July to September, 4° October to December. The statistical analysis was done by Chi-square test for verification percentage differences. The results showed the high percentage athletes was born in the firstly months of year. It was concluded that RA is present in professional football, especially in the sample of this study. |

Sin embargo, este mismo problema ha sido poco analizado en futbolistas profesionales. Por lo tanto, el objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar el efecto del RI en equipos profesionales pertenecientes a la serie B del Campeonato Paulista de Fútbol. Para ello se analizaron 1.112 jugadores de 39 equipos, los cuales se dividieron según sus fechas de nacimiento, indicadas por semestre y trimestre, y los respectivos semestres se dividieron en: 1er semestre desde el 1 de enero hasta el último día del mes de junio y el El segundo semestre fue del 1 de julio al último día de diciembre. En trimestre, hubo la división del 1er trimestre de enero a marzo; 2º trimestre, de abril a junio; 3er trimestre, de julio a septiembre; Cuarto trimestre, de octubre a diciembre. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó la prueba Chi-Cuadrado para verificar las diferencias porcentuales. Como resultado se encontró un mayor porcentaje de deportistas nacidos en los primeros meses del año. Concluimos que el efecto RI está presente en el fútbol profesional, excepcionalmente en la muestra estudiada.Il fenomeno dell'Età Relativa (RI) è presente nel calcio mondiale, soprattutto nelle categorie giovanili, dato che i giovani nati nei primi mesi dell'anno sono avvantaggiati nel processo di selezione. Tuttavia, questo stesso problema è stato poco analizzato nei calciatori professionisti. Pertanto, l'obiettivo del presente studio è stato quello di analizzare l'effetto del RI sulle squadre professionistiche appartenenti alla serie B del Campionato Paulista di Calcio. Per questo sono stati analizzati 1.112 giocatori di 39 squadre, suddivisi per data di nascita, indicata per semestre e trimestre, e i rispettivi semestri sono stati suddivisi in: 1° semestre dal 1° gennaio all'ultimo giorno del mese giugno e il Il 2° semestre è stato dal 1° luglio all'ultimo giorno di dicembre. Nel trimestre c'è stata la suddivisione del 1° trimestre da gennaio a marzo; 2° trimestre, da aprile a giugno; 3° trimestre, da luglio a settembre; 4° trimestre, da ottobre a dicembre. Per l'analisi statistica è stato utilizzato il test Chi-Square per verificare le differenze percentuali. Di conseguenza è stata riscontrata una percentuale più alta di atleti nati nei primi mesi dell'anno.
