Resumo: | After the crisis of the welfare state in Europe, in the 1970s, neoliberal policies are implemented. Aiming the reduction of state investments in social areas and the self-regulation of the market, it changed the socio-economic structures of Europe. Social and labor rights and the commitment to full employment derived from the Bretton Woods agreement, no longer constitute main agendas for countries, engendering processes of degradation of working conditions. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that while Europe was going through the process of dismantling labor policies, Brazilian sugarcane workers regularly experienced situations of lack of rights, overexploitation and clandestine work. Therefore, it is demonstrated that the concerns about the deconstruction of the model of labor regulation in Europe after neoliberalism were already pointed out by the bibliography in the Brazilian rural areas studies. |
