Resumo: This article discusses the food question in light of the recent debates about agrofuels and other green agricultural technologies. In this sense, it illustrates, on one hand, the position in favor of a biocivilization based on new technologies which would allow the conciliation of food production and other materials such as agrofuels; on the other hand, a skeptical view about these technologies since they are related to the modern industrial model of agriculture, which goes against the notions of sustainability and the food question. Hereafter, it analyzes these divergences based on the Brazilian case, inquiring the relations between the way to a biocivilization and in what extent the international market of biomass could affect the food production in Brazil. Finally, it presents two examples of agroecological projects which aim to harmony both the agroenergy and food production, in order to solve the apparent inherent contradiction between energy and food. Likewise, it concludes that this alleged contradiction is rooted in a capitalist model of production, and therefore, other agricultures and ways of production are possible.
