Mozambique: processes of participation of rural communities in local development

Resumo: The mechanism of the centralized management of the State in Mozambique, coupled with the errors of the strategy of socialization of the land to promote local, regional and national development, meant that the real capacity for participation of social actors in this process was rarely addressed until today. This article aims to think over the mechanisms of expression and insertion of social subjects in territorial governance. Our central hypothesis for territorial / rural development in Mozambique takes into account the possibilities of choices in the symmetrical view of mediators in the decision-making process. The methodology was of a qualitative nature in the context of the Mozambican countryside. The population of Mozambican rural communities may be able to decide and, consequently, participate effectively in the local development process. This points to innovative alternatives, triggering the process of building citizenship.

A metodologia foi de cunho qualitativo no âmbito do meio rural moçambicano. A população das comunidades rurais moçambicanas pode ser capaz de decidir e, consequentemente, participar de forma efetiva do processo de desenvolvimento local.
