Resumo: | This paper aims to make a theoretical reflection on the rural crafts in the dynamics of territorial development from the following problem: how craft fits into the current process of rural community development? For this, we tried to see how the theoretical discussion about the role of craft in contemporary world appears in empirical studies through a review of research on the subject published in recent decades. It was noticed that, despite the concern with the symbolic to be present in the analyzed studies, the economic approach has been privileged, especially when the objective is to generate income for rural communities facing social vulnerability. The increasing appreciation of craft goods in contemporary society can be inferred that in the future the artisans will have greater autonomy from the market. Remains to be seen whether this will result in really popular demands or processing of artisans in cultural producers with symbolic manifestations belonging to the hegemonic class. |
