Resumo: In this work a study of the EPR spectra of the pure and cesium (Cs) doped synthetic carbonated apatite is accomplished to verify the influence of the metal in the indicative signal line of dose, associated to CO2 species. In fact, the aim is evaluating the strength of the EPR as an important tool in the investigation of internal dose. The doped ot the synthetic carbonated apatite was reached by the sorption of the cesium, in the nitrate form, in aqueous solution. The sample was irradiated with gamma radiation from the 60Co to a dose of 750 Gy, and the X-band spectra were measured at room temperature (25ºC) in a Bruker EMS104 spectrometer. The results indicate that the presence of the cesium in the structure of the synthetic carbonated apatite modifies the production of the CO2 radical that is used as dose indicator, increasing the EPR signal intensity of the CO2 species and introducing a error in the dose estimate value obtained by the EPR measure, the dose value can be overestimated.
