Assessment of communicative competence in language teaching and learning: investigating the use of resources beyond traditional exams

Resumo: This article presents a survey on the usage of technological resources which are used to evaluate communicative competence in the process of teaching and learning languages. Taking the evaluation into consideration, it is understood by an inseparable part of this process, the article brings out a discussion based on the concepts, technological resources and assessment instruments used in this context. The methodological procedures followed set a bibliographic research, quantitative approach sustained by a questionnaire to collected data, and qualitative approach based on content analysis method. The sample was composed of English, Spanish and French language teachers of the Language Center of the Federal Institute of Amazonas. The results highlight the preference for standardized written and oral exams, due to the low usage of technological resources, specially from the need for digital teacher training.

Levando em conta que a avaliação é compreendida como parte indissociável desse processo, evidencia-se uma discussão, com base nos conceitos, recursos tecnológicos e instrumentos de avaliação utilizados nesse contexto. Os procedimentos metodológicos adotados envolvem uma pesquisa bibliográfica, abordagem   quantitativa, com uso de  questionário para coleta de dados, e qualitativa, a partir do método de análise de conteúdo. A amostra foi composta por professores de língua inglesa, espanhola e francesa, do Centro de Idiomas, do Instituto Federal do Amazonas.
