Project “I, scientist”: A Pedagogical Proposal for Teaching the Subject Introduction to Scientific Methodology in Technical Courses Integrated to High School

Resumo: The discipline Introduction to Scientific methodology is essential in technical courses, as it allows entry into the world of research through an understanding of scientific method and scientific writing. However, the inadequate articulation of teaching contents and practices can make it inefficient. The “I, scientist” Project is a pedagogical proposal for teaching the subject Introduction to Scientific Methodology in Technical Courses Integrated to High School, which aims to awaken students to the understanding of developing Science as something feasible for their student reality. Participant research was used as a methodology, with a qualitative approach. Thirty-two students participated in the project, one with a visual impairment and one with a hearing impairment. Initially, the theoretical concepts about research were presented, according to the syllabus of the discipline. The students, in groups, were invited to think about problems in the reality that surrounds them. Then, they were instructed to propose solutions to such problems and to test them, using the premises of the scientific method. As a result, six projects were developed, addressing difficulties in teaching and learning Physics and Portuguese, accessibility for the visually impaired, time management, and communication between teachers and students with hearing impairment. During the project, it was observed that students developed skills and competences such as intellectual autonomy, ability to solve problems, creativity, group work and communication of ideas.

Contudo, a articulação inadequada de conteúdos e práticas docentes pode torná-la ineficiente. O Projeto “Eu, Cientista” é uma proposta pedagógica para o ensino da disciplina Introdução à Metodologia Científica nos Cursos Técnicos Integrados ao Ensino Médio, o qual visa despertar os estudantes para a compreensão do desenvolver Ciência como algo factível a sua realidade estudantil. Utilizou-se como metodologia a pesquisa participante, com uma abordagem qualitativa. Participaram do projeto 32 estudantes, sendo um estudante com deficiência visual e uma estudante com deficiência auditiva. Inicialmente, apresentou-se os conceitos teóricos sobre pesquisa, conforme a ementa da disciplina. Os estudantes, em grupos, foram convidados a pensar em problemas da realidade que os cerca. Em seguida, foram orientados a propor soluções para tais problemas e testá-las, utilizando-se das premissas do método científico. Como resultado, seis projetos foram desenvolvidos, abordando as dificuldades no ensino-aprendizagem de Física e de Português, acessibilidade para deficientes visuais, o gerenciamento do tempo, e comunicação entre professores e alunos com deficiência auditiva. Durante o projeto, observou-se o desenvolver nos estudantes de habilidades e competências como autonomia intelectual, capacidade para resolver problemas, criatividade, trabalho em grupo e comunicação de ideias. Ademais, os alunos publicaram quatro artigos em seminários estudantis.
