Memorials narratives: what does the history tell us about the Federal Institutes?

Summary: | During President Lula’s terms, the government approved some important policies for Professional Education in Brazil. This article will analyze the narratives of twosubjects about this process and also will seek to support its history while restoring and reordering the events of this recent past. This research has a social and qualitative nature and uses the ethnographic methodology as basis for data production and analysis, grounded on participant observation, field diary and semi-structured interviews that were recorded in audio and video. Data analysis will use theories from different areas, such as vocational and technological education, social memory, discourses and narratives. It also will search for the relations between the theoretical framework and the produced/empirical data,clarifying and filling the blanks of the historical social dynamics at that moment. In this article, we analyzed the memory narratives of two politicians, Eliezer Pacheco and Cláudia Schiedeck Soares de Souza, both professors, regarding the elitism of the universities educational offer and the need of expanding theenrollments of High School and Technical Education (integrated education) to the society. Whilst analyzing these discourses, we could notice that the shift of Cefets into Technological Universities would not be able to keep the access for thesecondary education integrated to the technical programs. Facing the socialpressure at that time, it was possible to discuss and frame a new institutionality that nowadays accounts for the largest educational offer of High School/Technical programs in the country. |

Este artigo analisa as narrativas de dois sujeitos envolvidos nesta concepção e busca apoiar a história na reconstituição e reordenação dos acontecimentos deste passado recente. É uma pesquisa social de natureza qualitativa, que utiliza a metodologia etnográfica como fundamento para a produção e análise de dados, baseada na observação participante, diário de campo e em entrevistas semiestruturadas gravadas em áudio e vídeo. A análise de dados emprega as teorias oriundas dos eixos temáticos que tratam sobre Educação Profissional e Tecnológica, memória social, discursos e narrativas, buscando as relações entre a fundamentação teórica e os dados produzidos/empíricos, esclarecendo e completando os espaços da dinâmica social histórica investigada. Neste artigo, analisaremos as narrativas memoriais de dois políticos: os professores Eliezer Pacheco e Cláudia Schiedeck Soares de Souza em relação ao aspecto da elitização da oferta de educação pelas universidades e a necessidade de ampliar a oferta do ensino médio integrado à sociedade. Na análise destes discursos, percebe-se que a transformação dos Cefets em Universidades Tecnológicas não conseguiria manter a oferta da educação de nível médio integrado ao ensino técnico.
