THE PROFILE OF INTEGRATED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE FEDERAL INSTITUTES: : the case of IFNMG – Campus Advanced Janaúba

Resumo: The aim of this article is to debate the current profile of students who attend the integrated high school of the Federal System of Education, based on evidence of its changes over time. We carried out a bibliographic research, using Google Scholar and CAPES Theses and Dissertations Bank; documental research and a case study at IFNMG – Campus Janaúba. We conclude that, despite the limitations in tracing the general profile of students in the Federal System, and that students’ family income is generally not high, there seems to be a tendency towards an increase in the demand for Federal Institutes by relatively more privileged groups. In the case of Campus Janaúba, parental level of education is higher when compared to the city’s population in general.

In the case of Campus Janaúba, parental level of education is higher when compared to the city’s population in general.O objetivo deste artigo é colocar em debate o perfil atual dos alunos que acessam o ensino médio integrado da Rede Federal de Educação, a partir de evidências de modificações desse perfil ao longo do tempo. Para tanto, realizamos pesquisa bibliográfica, recorrendo ao Google Acadêmico e ao Banco de Teses e Dissertações da CAPES; pesquisa documental e um estudo de caso no IFNMG - Campus Janaúba. Concluímos que, apesar das limitações para traçar o perfil geral dos alunos da Rede Federal, e de a renda familiar desses alunos não ser em geral alta, parece haver uma tendência de aumento da procura dos Institutos Federais por grupos relativamente mais favorecidos.
