Social workers and the health-work relation: an exploratory study in a public emergency unit in Rio de Janeiro/RJ

Resumo: This article presents the results of a qualitative and exploratory research which aimed at apprehending social workers’ perceptions on the health-work relations in the emergency room at the Lourenço Jorge Municipal Hospital ( HMLJ) by analyzing how these relations are seen by these professionals. The empirical research was based on a questionnaire applied to eleven social workers. Results show that these professionals identify with their activity; however, they admit the stress brought up by their work conditions and relations. This fact demands a consideration of institutional actions that may contribute to the workers’ health in this working scenario.

Trata-se de pesquisa empírica, baseada na aplicação de questionários com onze assistentes sociais. Como resultados, estas profissionais apontam a identificação com a atividade desenvolvida; no entanto reconhecem o estresse encontrado em suas condições e relações de trabalho.
