Occupational heat assessment: a case study throughout the daily working hours of a chainsaw operator in the State of Pará, Brazil

Resumo: | Work activities can expose workers to various occupational hazards in the Brazilian forestry segment. More specifically in the semi-mechanized forest harvest, the activity of chainsaws is one that deserves to be highlighted, considering the variety of risk agents to which this function is daily exposed. Among the several risks the chainsaw operator is exposed to, this research carried out the evaluation of the physical agent occupational heat at the Municipality of Almeirim in Pará State (Brazil) in two consecutive days in July 2017, and related the results to the highest level allowed according to current regulations. It was observed that exposure to occupational heat exceeded the limit allowed in several periods of the workday, indicating the possibility of damage to the workers' health. This research also showed that it is impossible to apply the results of the evaluation of occupational heat from one region to another, because they may vary according to the climate, the day and the time of the year. |

Las actividades laborales pueden exponer a los trabajadores a diversos riesgos laborales en el segmento forestal brasileño. Más específicamente en la cosecha forestal semimecanizada, la actividad de las motosierras merece ser destacada, considerando la variedad de agentes de riesgo a los que esta función está expuesta diariamente. Entre los diversos riesgos a los que está expuesto el operador de motosierra, esta investigación llevó a cabo la evaluación del del agente físico calor ocupacional en el Municipio de Almeirim, en el estado de Pará (Brasil), en dos días seguidos en julio de 2017, y relacionó los resultados con el nivel más alto permitido según la normativa vigente. En este estudio se observó que la exposición al calor ocupacional excedía el límite permitido en varios períodos de la jornada laboral, lo que indicaba la posibilidad de daños a la salud de los trabajadores. Esta investigación también mostró que es imposible aplicar los resultados de la evaluación del calor ocupacional de una región a otra, porque los resultados pueden variar según el clima, el día y la época del año. As atividades laborais podem expor os trabalhadores a diversos riscos ocupacionais no segmento florestal brasileiro. Mais especificamente na colheita florestal semimecanizada, a atividade de motosserrista é uma que merece destaque, haja vista a variedade de agentes de risco a que essa função está exposta diariamente. Entre os diversos riscos aos quais o motosserrista está exposto, esta pesquisa realizou a avaliação do agente físico calor ocupacional em dois dias seguidos, no mês de julho de 2017, no munícipio de Almeirim no estado do Pará, e relacionou os resultados com o nível máximo permitido conforme normativa em vigor. Percebeu-se neste estudo que a exposição ao calor ocupacional ultrapassou o limite permitido em diversos períodos da jornada de trabalho, indicando a possibilidade de danos à saúde do trabalhador.
