Resumo: Nowadays, there are hundreds of exotic plant species around the world due to the intense and artificial introduction caused by human intervention. Lately, this process has been intensified by globalization. Consequently, the competition generated between exotic and native plant species not only creates financial and social damages, but also results in irreversible impact in the environment. This article shows the risks caused by this introduction, whether intentional or not, of numerous exotic plant species into ecosystems different from their original ones.

Conseqüentemente, a competição gerada entre as espécies exóticas e nativas, além de gerar prejuízos de ordem financeira e social, acaba por impactar o meio ambiente de modo irreversível.
