Resumo: The objective of this work was to test the phytoremediative capacity of an aquatic macrophyte for the removal of lead. The macrophytes were submitted to exposure of the metal at concentrations of 3, 6 and 9 mg.L-1 for 10 days, and then chemical analyses were performed. The plant presented a bioaccumulation capacity, accumulating, in its root, a considerable concentration of lead, greater than in the aerial parts. In addition, no part of the plant has died during the experiment, demonstrating resistance to lead and capacity of accumulation.

Se expusieron las macrófitas a la exposición a metales a concentraciones de 3,0; 6.0 y 9.0 mg.L-1 por 10 días, y luego fueron sometidas a análisis químicos. La planta presentó capacidad de bioacumulación, acumulando en su raíz una concentración considerable de plomo, mayor que en las partes aéreas. Además, ninguna parte de la planta murió durante el experimento, lo que demuestra la resistencia al plomo y la capacidad de acumulación.O objetivo deste trabalho foi testar a capacidade fitorremediadora de uma macrófita aquática, para remoção de chumbo. As macrófitas foram submetidas à exposição do metal nas concentrações de 3,0; 6,0 e 9,0 mg.L-1, por 10 dias, e em seguida elas foram submetidas a análises químicas. A planta apresentou capacidade de bioacumulação, acumulando em sua raiz uma concentração considerável de chumbo, maior que nas partes aéreas.
