Resumo: The objective was to evaluate the potential emergence of 51 elephant grass genotypes. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with two replications. We used the Scott and Knott cluster test at a significance level of 5% probability. There was a division of the genotypes into two major groups: the most prolific group consisted of 13 genotypes (elite group), and the second group was the less prolific. Genotype Taiwan A-148 obtained the greatest number of tillers per meter, with potential use in breeding programs of elephant grass cultivation.

O experimento foi conduzido no delineamento em blocos casualizados com duas repetições. Utilizou-se o teste de agrupamento de Scott e Knott ao nível de significância de 5% de probabilidade. Houve a divisão dos genótipos em dois grandes grupos, sendo o grupo dos mais prolíficos constituído de 13 genótipos (grupo elite), e o segundo grupo, dos menos prolíficos.
