Resumo: The objective of this study was to estimate sludge production in the decanters at the Funil Water Treatment Station, located in Ouro Preto, Brazil, in order to provide subsidies to comply with current legislation regarding the design of Waste Treatment Units. To estimate sludge production - in the form of total solids and volatile solids - empirical equations found in the literature were applied, using, as input parameters, the data from the Funil Station, provided by the Municipal Water and Sewage Service. Among the equations used, those formulated by Franco (2009) presented greater proximity to the model suitable for the Funil Station.

Para estimar la producción de lodo en forma de sólidos totales y sólidos volátiles, se aplicaron ecuaciones empíricas encontradas en la literatura, utilizando como parámetros de entrada los datos de la ETA Funil, proporcionados por el Servicio Municipal de Agua y Alcantarillado. Entre las ecuaciones utilizadas, las propuestas por Franco (2009) presentaron una mayor proximidad al modelo apropiado para la ETA Funil.Objetivou-se neste estudo estimar a produção de lodo nos decantadores da Estação de Tratamento de Água (ETA) Funil, localizada em Ouro  Preto  –  MG, visando fornecer subsídios para atender a legislação vigente, referente ao dimensionamento de Unidades de Tratamento de Resíduos (UTR). Para a estimativa da produção de lodo na forma de sólidos totais e sólidos voláteis, foram aplicadas equações empíricas encontradas na literatura, utilizando-se como parâmetros de entrada os dados da ETA Funil, cedidos pelo Serviço Municipal de Água e Esgoto (SEMAE).
