Graphene's potential for the textile designers of tomorrow

Resumo: Textile innovation has followed the development of Western society since the Industrial Revolution. At present, it is believed that it demands from textile designers to deal with nanomaterials. From this point of view, the present research aims to discuss the potential of graphene in the context of textile innovation. In addition to a narrative and unsystematic literature review, an expert in the production of graphene was interviewed. As a result, it was observed that the potential of the material can be organized into two groups: (I) as a coating for textile processing; and (II) as a component into textile fibers. From the research carried out, it is concluded that graphene is a promising material for the textile and clothing industries and, consequently, for the textile designers of tomorrow.

En la actualidad, se cree que ella exige a los diseñadores textiles que se ocupen de los nanomateriales. Desde este punto de vista, esta investigación pretende debatir el potencial del grafeno en el contexto de la innovación textil. Para ello, se realizó una revisión bibliográfica, narrativa y asistemática, y se entrevistó a un experto en la producción de grafeno. Como resultado, se observó que las potencialidades del material pueden organizarse en dos grupos: (I) como recubrimiento para el procesamiento textil; y (II) como componente junto con las fibras textiles. De la investigación realizada se concluye que el grafeno es un material prometedor para la industria textil y de la confección y, por tanto, para los diseñadores textiles del futuro.A inovação têxtil acompanha o desenvolvimento da sociedade ocidental desde a Revolução Industrial. No presente, acredita-se que ela demanda dos designers têxteis a lida com nanomateriais. A partir desse ponto de vista, esta pesquisa tem como objetivo discutir as potencialidades do grafeno, no âmbito da inovação têxtil. Para tanto, além de uma revisão bibliográfica, narrativa e assistemática, entrevistou-se um especialista na produção do grafeno. Como resultado, observou-se que as potencialidades do material podem ser organizadas em dois grupos: (I) enquanto revestimento para o beneficiamento têxtil; e (II) como componente junto às fibras têxteis.
