Resumo: The use of taxidermy of dead animals by trampling, as an instrument of actions in conservation environmental education, allows a greater amplitude in the learning, including the academics of higher education. This work aimed to develop the taxidermy process among academics of the biological sciences course. The works took place on November 2, 2013 at the Federal Institute of Rondônia, Colorado do Oeste campus. Were used three specimens of Cebus apella and Mico melanurus primates which were found killed by trampling on the Highway BR 435. The procedure consisted in dividing the academics into groups of ten and the removal of the skin from the animals in the laboratory and later the washing and drying work, as well as assembling the hides under similar conditions to the living animal. It was also possible to verify the clinical state that led to the death of the animals and to explain the importance of the species and the impacts caused by the highways. The academics involved will be able to use the knowledge acquired for the teaching-learning process in the middle-level students in a multidisciplinary process that allows environmental awareness and environmental conservation.
