TEACHING OF ABNT: A PROPOSAL EXECUTED IN A BRAZILIAN UNIVERSITY

Resumo: Although knowledge of some Brazilian Norms of References (NBRs) is required for the written production of academic texts, these norms are not always taught to students. Considering this context, a project of extension courses directed to the systematic and reflexive teaching of NBRs related to the written production is developed in a Brazilian federal university. In this report, the objective is to describe a teaching proposal of the ABNT that is being implemented in these courses, destined to undergraduates and post-graduates, each lasting fifteen hours. To that end, the theoretical-methodological foundations used in the classes are based on the approach of academic literacies (LEA; STREET, 1998). The result of the implementation of the proposal of articulation between the study of NBRs and the reflection on their meanings and wider issues involved is productive and relevant. The course participants confirm the need for academic writing to be explicitly taught and reflected.

Ante a esse contexto, desenvolve-se, em uma universidade federal brasileira, um projeto de cursos de extensão voltados para o ensino sistemático e reflexivo de NBRs relacionadas à produção escrita. Neste relato, objetiva-se descrever uma proposta de ensino da ABNT que vem sendo implementada nesses cursos, destinados a graduandos e pós-graduandos, cada qual com duração de quinze horas-aula. Para tanto, os fundamentos teórico-metodológicos empregados nas aulas pautam-se na abordagem dos letramentos acadêmicos (LEA; STREET, 1998). O resultado da implementação da proposta de articulação entre o estudo de NBRs e a reflexão sobre seus significados e questões mais amplas envolvidas é produtivo e relevante.
