The venous thromboembolic disease represents a serious problem of public health worldwide. Its high mortality rate alone demonstrates its importance and impact on the population. The school, as one of the bases for the formation of the citizen, has a fundamental role in the dissemination of knowledge related to health promotion and disease prevention, mainly through the didactic material made available to the student as a facilitator of the learning process. This study aims to analyze the approach to the topic venous thromboembolic disease in high school biology books approved by the 2018 national textbook program. To this end, the research and analysis of the 10 biology books proposed by the program were carried out in search of an approach to venous thromboembolic disease in the chapters referring to the circulatory system. As a result, it was found that the subject is not addressed by any of the suggested books.
