Resumo: This research aims to reflect on the anniversary celebrations of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2018, analyzing the history of the celebrations alluding to its birthdays. We use documentary and bibliographical analysis and the understandings of document-monument and memory for Le Goff and places of memory for Pierre Nora. The study about celebrations at UFRN demonstrates different meanings in the educational field, characterizing the commemoration of this date as a fundamental element of the institution's social identity.

Utilizamos análisis documental y bibliográfica y las definiciones de documento-monumento y memoria para Le Goff y lugares de memoria para Pierre Nora. Todo eso resultó em diferentes significados en el campo educativo, caracterizando la conmemoración de esa fecha como elemento fundamental de la identidad social de la institución.Esta pesquisa tem como finalidade refletir sobre as celebrações de aniversário de fundação da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), que comemora seus 60 anos de fundação em 2018, analisando a história das celebrações alusivas aos seus aniversários. Utilizamos de análise documental e bibliográfica e dos entendimentos de documento-monumento e memória para Le Goff e lugares de memória para Pierre Nora.
