Resumo: The opposition between success and failure, according to author Jack Halberstam (2020), is the result of the social logic of asymmetries inherent to the capitalist regime. "Success" is reserved for a "successful" portion of society, while "failure" remains for the margins. Design, located as a profession in the capitalist context, is almost inseparable from this “successful” ideal. Based on this understanding, this investigation aims to reflect on the approaches of the design field with the social practice of failure, supported by theories of cultural studies, in order to criticize the field and imagine possibilities for a transgressive design that encourages the reduction of inequalities.
