RESUMONo ano de 1975, a comunidade de Vale Vêneto, que foi colonizada por italianos, organizou-se para comemorar os 100 anos da imigração italiana, promovendo uma festa com celebração católica, inauguração de museu, jantar típico entre outras atividades. O presente trabalho tem como interesse compreender o ato de festejar o centenário da Imigração Italiana na localidade de Vale Vêneto, localizada na região central do Rio Grande do Sul. Para explorar esse evento, foram utilizados os jornais A Razão de Santa Maria-RS e O Radar de Faxinal do Soturno-RS. Neles, foi analisada de forma externa e interna a fonte jornalística, inspirada nas contribuições de Luca (2008), buscando compreender a divulgação das festividades e as imagens das comemorações. A partir disso, entende-se que o ato de festejar seja um importante meio de compreensão dos ritos da vida coletiva e da construção da imagem e cultura italiana na comunidade de Vale Vêneto.ABSTRACTIn the year 1975, the Vale Vêneto community, which was colonized by italians, organized to commemorate 100 years of Italian immigration, promoting a celebration with Catholic celebration, museum inauguration, typical dinner among other activities. The present work has as an interest to understand the act of celebrating the centenary of Italian Immigration in the locality of Vale Vêneto, located in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul. To explore thisevent, thenewspapers A Razão de Santa Maria-RS and O Radar de Faxinal do Soturno-RS. In them, the journalistic source, inspired by the contributions of Luca (2008), was analyzed externally and internally, seeking to understand the dissemination of the festivities and the images of the celebrations. From this, it is understood that the act of celebrating is an important means of understanding the rites of collective life and of the construction of the Italian image and culture in the community of Vale Vêneto.
