ResumoOs benzimentos possuem distintas significações diante dos grupos sociais onde estão inseridos, em especial para aqueles que os praticam lhe atribuindo significados. Estes, por exemplo, vão além de uma simples tentativa de cura física, pois de forma cultural produzem elementos que são compartilhados e apropriados em vários campos, sendo os sentidos atribuídos à cura e conseqüentemente suas percepções à vida e morte elementos cotidianos e mercantes no ofício do benzedor. Através da oralidade, tais ideias são compartilhadas no grupo social do qual estes sujeitos fazem parte, sendo esta, uma das maneiras pelas quais ocorre a legitimação e a difusão da prática do benzedor, que nas narrativas se constitui como indivíduo portador de uma identidade peculiar perante a comunidade que o acolhe, bem como, o reconhece como referência de poder diante da cura, da vida e da morte, haja vista que neles depositam confiança e fé, constituindo e fortalecendo as relações e significados destes sujeitos num contexto transmitido e recriado permanentemente na cultura e na memória. As narrativas produzidas por estes agentes foram essenciais no estudo e entendimento desta prática, sendo o único subsídio para sua análise e compreensão nos dias atuais.AbstractThe blessings have different meanings before the social groups where they are inserted in, especially for those who practice them, assigning meanings to them. These, for example, go beyond a simple attempt at physical healing, because in a cultural way they produce elements that are shared and appropriated in various fields, the senses being attributed to healing and consequently their perceptions of life and death daily and merchant elements in the craft of the blesser. Through orality, these ideas are shared in the social group of which these subjects are part of, and this is one of the ways in which legitimation and diffusion of the practice of the blesser occurs, which in the narratives constitutes as an individual with a peculiar identity before the community that accept it, as well as recognizes it as a reference for power before the healing, life and death, given that in them they place trust and faith, constituting and strengthening the relations and meanings of these subjects in a context transmitted and recreated permanently in the culture and memory. The narratives produced by these agents were essential in the study and understanding of this practice being the only subsidy for its analysis and understanding today.
