ResumoEste artigo tem como objetivo refletir acerca do processo de reconfiguração do antigo território de Vacaria-RS durante a passagem do século XIX para o século XX através de inventários post-mortem localizados no Arquivo Público do Rio Grande do Sul (APERS), além de registros paroquiais e cartoriais. Nosso estudo busca analisar as mudanças que resultaram em um processo de reorganização do espaço gaúcho definido através do conceito de reterritorialização. Partimos do pressuposto de que o início do século XX marcou um período de inúmeras transformações políticas, econômicas e sociais que se refletiram na organização das fazendas, realização de partilhas, vendas e compras de terras. Buscamos compreender, entre outros aspectos, de que modo a estrutura pecuarista das antigas fazendas vacarienses acabou por ceder ou não lugar a outras atividades econômicas e, os desdobramentos associados a fragmentação de suas terras. O presente tema faz parte da sequência de pesquisas iniciadas no curso de mestrado através da dissertação defendida em 2016 pela Universidade de Passo Fundo (UPF) e atualmente constituem o objeto de reflexão sobre o qual se alicerça o desenvolvimento da tese pela mesma universidade.AbstractThis article aims to reflect on the reconfiguration process of the former territory of Vacaria-RS during the transition from the 19th to the 20th century through post-mortem inventories located in the Public Archive of Rio Grande do Sul (APERS), in addition to parish and notary offices. Our study seeks to analyze the changes that resulted in a process of reorganization of the Gaucho space defined through the concept of reterritorialization. We assume that the beginning of the 20th century marked a period of numerous political, economic and social transformations that were reflected in the organization of farms, the realization of divisions, sales and purchases of land. We seek to understand, among other aspects, how the cattle-raising structure of the old farms in Vacaria ended up giving way or not to other economic activities, and the consequences associated with the fragmentation of their lands. This theme is part of the sequence of research initiated in the master’s course through the dissertation defended in 2016 by the University of Passo Fundo (UPF) and currently constitute the object of reflection on which the development of the thesis by the same university is based on.
